Udupi;Oct 18: After inaugurating the “Maharshi Valmiki Jayanti” day celebration  organized jointly by district administration, district panchayat, scheduled caste community welfare department,Udupi,at Zilla Sankeerna Atalbihari Vajpayee  auditorium on Oct 18,Friday ,Dr.Gananatha Yekkar, executive of government first grade college and Kannada post-graduates study department said in his address as chief orator that only due to lack of knowledge, understandings about the Indian culture, today lots of conflicts are being taking place. Single culture justification is big threat, he said

He further said that if we respect other caste and religion, they will respect us. Change can be brought only through knowledge and through pressure, it is impossible. There have been thousand years of history for freedom, equality and harmony, he added.

If thoughts of great achievers like Budha, Basavanna, Gandhiji, Ambedkar, Kanakadas, and Valmiki are being recognized, in Indian culture’s differences, there will be equality. We can see, these thoughts have been highlighted in the constitution. We have to adopt humane approach after coming out of customary attitudes. Some community through Valmiki’s thoughts, attained self respect, he said.

After inaugurating the programme, vinaya Kumar sorake, minister for urban development and district in charge said in his address that we have to see the thoughts about Valmiki in a dramatic way. In order to see self-respect, great achievers are responsible.

In democratic country like India, people are trying to destroy the freedom of life. A hunter like Valmiki becoming  philosopher and one who knows the principles of life means, it is possible to come in the main stream beyond caste barrier, we did come to know through histories. We have to make an attempt to bring Dalit and scheduled community.

In the country, slavery system and caste conflicts are at the top. Through value and heterogeneity, it is possible to bring them in the main stream, he said.

He further said that though there is a more demand for SC/ST, we don’t hear their voices. In this connection, we have decided to form commission. Also we are planning to waive the loan of around Rs 48 crore.

With regard to their demand for land, after discussing with revenue department, zilla panchayat level, we are making arrangement for providing land to them and for their welfare, within a week that will be reviewed.
