Bantwal, Oct. 13: The grotto of Mary at Our Lady of Loretto Church, Loretto here was damaged by miscreants on Sunday October 13.
It is suspected that the incident must have taken place between Saturday October 12 and Sunday October 13.
Fr Oswald Monteiro, the parish priest has reported the incident to Bantwal town police. Venkataramana Gawda, Town Sub Inspector, H D Mendonca, Puttur DSP and team visited the spot and investigated the incident.
People and devotes protested for demanding the arrest the criminals soon. .
The district in charge minister B. Ramnath Rai also visited the place and promised to punish the criminals under the law.
As soon as the news spread, people from neighboring parishes like Agrar, Modankap, Bambil and others visited the church and recited prayers in front of the grotto.
