Mangalore, Oct. 14: The spectacular Dasara celebrations in the city Mangalore Dasara 2013 ended on the morning of Tuesday October 14, with the immersion of the idols of Navadurga’s and Ganesh at the Kudroli Temple pond following a glorious procession.
The Mangalore Dasara owes its grandeur and success to the efforts of B. Janardhan Poojary, senior Congress leader and the initiator of renovation of the temple.
The Mangalore Dasara procession was just as grand as the Mysore Dasara. Huge crowds of devotee’s visit the Kudroli temple to witness the finale of dasara.
Apart from the beautifully decorated idols of the Navadurgas, such as Mahakali, Mahagowri, Shailaputri, Kathyayini, Chandraghanta, Brahmacharini, Skandamatha, and Siddhidharthi., there were many tableaux; each depicting Hindu culture, mythology, drummers Tulunadu traditions and various culture and traditions was there.
The procession was even grander with huli vesha, Kerala chende, Kalladka bombe, Somana Kunitha, Veeragasae, dollu kunita and most of other cultural and folk depictions.
The procession passed through Maryhill, Lalbagh, Ballalbagh, PVS, Navabharat Circle, K S Rao Road, Hampankatta and move towards Car Street and Alake. The procession culminates at Kudroli Temple and the idols were immersed in the morning.
Lakhs of people were present at the temple to witness the event which draws curtains to the nine day long Navaratri festivities.
In this occasion MLA J.R.Lobo, farmer mayor Shashidhar Hegde, president of Rasrtiya Billava Maha Mandali Jaya C Suvarnaand others who served for the success of the festival were felicitated by Janardhan Poojary.
The forest minister B. Ramnath rai, president of Temple administrative committee H.S. Sai Ram, vice president Raghavendra Kuloor, Secretary B. Madhava Suvarna, trustees B.K Tharnath, Ravshankar Mijar and Maheshchandra Treasurer Padmaraj R Dr. BG Suvarna, Devendra Poojary, n Harishchandra, Radakrshna were present.
Regarding to the procession there was high security alert in the city throughout the procession.
