Three Arrested for Looting Mumbai Merchants

Mangalore, Oct 9: Barke police on Tuesday October 8 arrested three persons for looting gold jewellery of Mumbai based merchants.

The arrested have been identified as Anil Sharma (38), a resident of Uttar Pradesh, Vijesh Kumar alias Viju (25), a resident of Jeepu Kudpady and Richmond alias Richi (27), a resident of Vamanjoor.

The police recovered 4.335 kg silver ornaments, 117 gram gold ornaments, gold plated ear rings and cash of Rs 1.15 lakh.

All together the north police station inspector Cheluvaraj B along with PSI Mohammed Sharif and other officials recovered valuables worth Rs 7.65 lac from them.

Narayanlal Kamavat and Mangilal Kamavat had purchased silver and gold jewellery from Mumbai and had sold a part of it in Bijapur and rest had they planned to sell it in the city, and got in touch with the accused Anil Sharma.

As planned, the merchants were travelling in a car driven by Vijesh Kumar. Anil Sharma started smoking, and Vijesh objected. Anil then asked Vijesh to stop the car and got down. Then Vijesh told the merchants that the car had been spoiled and asked them to push the car.

When the merchants started pushing the car, Vijesh Kumar started the engine and sped away, taking with him all the valuables which were in the car.

Regarding this Narayanlal had filed a complaint at Barke police station. Acting on the complaint, police arrested Anil Sharma within 48 hours and the entire incident came to light during interrogation.

The police caught him while he was on his way to Delhi to sell the stolen jewellery.
