Puttur:A couple hailing from Mura near Kabaka in Puttur taluk have allegedly committed suicide by consuming poison in their house on October 5, Wednesday afternoon.
Based on the death note, police have arrested one Jinnappa Poojari, a neighbour. He has been remanded to judicial custody.
The deceased are Balasubrahmanya Bhat (48) and his wife Hemavathi(40). Bhat worked for a private firm in Mura. According to sources, Hemavathi had first committed suicide after leaving behind a death note. Bhat who came home for lunch, on seeing his wife’s state, also reportedly decided to end his life. The incident came to light when their seven year old son Akshay Sharma arrived home from school on Saturday afternoon. He informed neighbours who rushed to the house only to find Hemavathi dead. Bhat who was in a critical state was rushed to the hospital but could not be saved.
Now the relatives of the deceased claiming that some political people are threatening u,s regarding to the arrest of the accused Jinnappa Pooojary. He is a leader of one political party. The leaders of that party were trying to save the accused the relatives urged for the protection of them with the district administration.
