Mangalore, Oct 7: A mandir of Shirdi Sai Baba will be established at Shree Gokarnatheshwara temple at Kudroli on Thursday, Oct. 10th, said former Union Minister and managing trustee of the temple B Janardhan Poojary at a press conference here on Monday.
He further said that the total cost of the temple has been borne by my son Santosh Poojary. The temple has been built from his hard-earned savings. The statue of Sai baba has been sculpted entirely in white marble brought specially from Vietnam. And the idol is carved by Bharadwaj from Jaipur. The total height of the idol is about 5 ft 7.5 inches.
Speaking about the appointment of widow priests at Kudroli Temple he said that Lakshmi Shanthi and Indira Shanthi were 67 years and 45 years old respectively. Lakshmi Shanthi had lost her husband 20 years ago and had two sons and three daughters, all of whom were married. Indira Shanthi had lost her husband five years ago and had two sons and a daughter, he said.
On becoming priestesses, ‘Shanti’ has been added to their names. Lokesh Shanthi, a Gurumandir priest from B C Road, had trained them to perform temple rituals.
President of the temple H S Sairam and Vice President Raghavendra Kuloor, treasurer Padmaraj R and trustee Harikrishna Bantwal were present.
