Mangalore Sept 27: Shree Gokarnanatheshara College, Mangalore University Commerce Teachers Association and Mangalore University History Teachers Association jointly organized a UGC sponsored two days National Seminar on Indigenous Management Practices and Sustainable Development: Paradigms and Paradoxes on 26th and 27th Sept at Gokarnanatha College Auditorium.

The seminar inaugurated on 26th Sept. By Dr. M Shantharam Shetty, Orthopaedic Surgeon, Pro Chancellor of Nitte University. Addressing the gathering he said that a citizen plays an important role in the development of the country. But at present only in the seminars we discuses about development not implementing it in real.

He further said that every citizen build up leadership quality, courage in them it will help to the progress of our country.

The DGM of State Bank of Mysore M R Jayesha, president of MUCTA Dr. Krishna Kanchan were the guest of honour. Retired professor of JSS College Mysore, G.S. Jayadeva delivered the key note address. President of Shri Venkatesha Shiva Bhakthi Yoga Sangha, B. Devdas presided over the function.

In the first session of the seminar Dr. B. Surendra Rao, Ex Chairman Dept. Of History, Mangalore University talked about Indigenous Management of Natural Resources and Indigenous People. In the next session Dr. Rajaram Holpady , associated professor of Political science, Mangalore University spoke on Indigenous Management and Role of local People.

In the second day technical session Udaya Kumar Irvatoor, Associated Prof. Dept. Of Commerce, University College Mangalore and registrar of SDM College Ujire Dr. P.N Udyachandra presented the paper on Indigenous Management Practices and Social Capital. And in another section the paper was presented on the topic Application of Indigenous Management in Modern Sector.

The programme continued with panel discussion. The panalists are Dr. B. Surendra Rao, Ex Chairman Dept. Of History, Mangalore University, Dr. Keshavan Prasad, Prof.Dept. Of Tribal Studies, Kannada University Hampi, Dr. Keshav Hegde Korse, Associate Prof. Of Botony, S.D.M College Ujire, Dr. H. Lakshmikanta, environment officer, Karnataka State Pollution Control Board, Udaya Kumar Irvatoor, Associated Prof. Dept. Of Commerce, University College Mangalore, Dr. Jayakumar Shetty, Associated Prof. Of Economics, S.D.M College Ujire and Prof. Violet Miranda associated Prof. History Govindadaas College Surathkal.

In the valedictory function, Dr. Wiliam Robert Da Silv, Prof. D.J. Academy of Mangalore Area gave the valedictory address. The joint director of regional office Prof. G Yogananda was the chief guest. Deputy Registrar Mangalore University Prabhakar Neermarga was the guest of honor. Correspondent of Gokarnanatheshwara College S. Jayavikram presided over the function.
