Dubai; Sept 27: It was a grand fete on Sept 26, Thursday evening, for the people of Karnataka coastal region, who have gone with great responsibilities on their shoulder in search of their livelihood to the dreamland-Dubai.
The reason behind this is very simple. Namma Tuluver, Dubai-a Dubai based cultural organization has organized a first ever award winning Tulu drama programme in Dubai entitled “Kaalchakra” at Nashwan hall,Al Nasr Leisure land, Dubai on September 26,Thursday by well known ‘Rangabhoomi Udupi’troupe, who have been contributing to the theatre for over 48 years of experience.
The “Kaalachakra” is a blend of an emotional, social and family drama, was staged stunningly by the troupe and was greeted and very well accepted by the spectators with tears in their eyes. The story involves the emotional relationship, bond, attachment between father-mother-children in the present day family life, besides being creating a consciousness in the minds of the people like waves of the ocean.
Overall, troupe made the evening a memorable one, to the residents of Dubai with their brilliant, skillful and talented performance and at the end, drama was a grand success.
In the modern family life, wherein western culture is dominating its supremacy, the Rangabhoomi artists have appealingly highlighted the instances of the parents-(father-mother) how they are being treated, respected, ignored, ill-treated, and kept them separate from the family in such a way that neither allows them to live nor to die (neither life, nor death) by the children. These suffering parents, who were thrown out from the house, at the last stage of their lives, have to rely and take the shelter of others like a “Kaalachakra”(wheel of time).That what the story goes!!
These were all the sequences, have been attractively enacted, portrayed in a mind blowing way by the Ranghabhoomi artists and thereby justified their professional roles in the drama and made the audience to shed tears in the eyes.
The drama ‘Kaalachakra’ is Jayavanth Dalvi’s Marati origin, has been translated to Tulu by H K Karkera and was directed in a mind touching way by Pradeepchandra Kutpady. Melodious music rendered by Geetham Girish has added an attraction to the drama.
In the journey of ‘Kaalachakra’ Pradeepchandra Kutpady was in the role of Vittal Rao, Sot Sujatha Shetty was as Rukmini, Shreepada Hegde was in the role of Vishwanath, Smt Chanchalakshi Bhat was in the role of Leela,Rajesh Bhat Paniyady was in the role of Sharath,Vivekananda N as Raghava,Smt Shashiprabha was in the role of Eravati and Jayakara was in the role of Babanna and all of them have justified their roles.
The part played by Pradeepchandra Kutpady and Sujatha shetty as Vittal Rao and Rukmini respectively made the spectators to remind of their father and mother. Charming roles played by these duo as old father and mother, has imprinted the pictures of upheavals in the family in the minds of people unforgettable. Besides Jayakar Manipal in the role of Babanna with his colorful costumes and hilarious jokes in between and stunning acting made the audience to inspire completely.
Balachandra, Girish Tantry, Veekshit Kodancha and Lokesh were the play back singers. Jayakar Manipal and Vivekananda N and Rajesh Bhat on stage construction and equipment management, Lighting-Harish Mattu and Arun,Nitin and Ramesh have co-operated.Chanchalakshi Bhat, Shashiprabha N were on costume design,Shreepad Hegde,Pradeepchandra in stage decoration,Prasadana Somanath Chitpady,Prem arts udupi by taking the responsibilities made the event a grand success.
Lalitha Ganiga has inaugurated the event in the beginning by lighting the traditional lamp. Praddepchandra Kutpady, director of the drama, Satish Venkataramana and his wife Mamatha have been felicitated during the occasion.
