Udupi; Sept 26: Vanasuma Vedhike, Katpadi, Sumanasa Kodavur and Pradeshika Janapada Rangakalegala Adhyana Kendra will jointly organize a drama “Ee Kelaginavaru” on October 1st, in the evening at 6.30 pm at M G M College’s Muddanna Mantapa open Rangamandira.
Kannada version (Ee Kelaginavaru) of “Lower depth” originally written by Maxim Gargi will be staged by the artists of national drama school, Bangalore chapter.
The drama’Ee Kelaginavaru’ was first staged in the year 1902 under the direction of Steins Louse at Moscow arts theatre .Though there were instances of deplorable condition of human beings in the drama, the story has not been depicted. But about love, life and death of the people, who have lost the social status, can be seriously grasped in this drama.
B T Desai has translated this Garg’s drama to the spoken language of north Karnataka. Even now ignorance, disregard and helplessness, ruthless nature of the society towards unfortunate and the people who have lost the social status has been seriously depicted.
