Udupi: Minister Abhayachandra assures grant-in-aid for Swimming pool (Updated)

Udupi; Sept 25: Addressing the media reporters after examining the workmanship of synthetic track, proposed swimming pool construction place and rubbish works carried out in the indoor games stadium, Abhayachandra Jain, minister for youth welfare and sports affairs, has assured that he will discuss with the chief minister to release the fund, required for the construction of 25 metre long swimming pool next to Ajjerakadu indoor stadium.

He further said that except the foundation stone laid down by former chief minister V Sadananda Gowda on August 20, 2011, no development in terms of construction, arrangement for the fund has taken place. Now it has been instructed departmental authorities to prepare the plan, budget for the construction of the swimming pool and assured that I shall try my level best , at any cost  and under any circumstance, necessary measures are taken for the construction of swimming pool during my tenure.

Action against errant people: It has been instructed to the authorities concerned to repair the four wooden damaged badminton courts, those have been inaugurated two years ago. It has been expected that the repair and maintenance works of the badminton courts might cost around Rs 20-25 lac and informed that he will discuss with chief minister to release the amount for the repair and maintenance of badminton courts and for the construction of swimming pool.

He also said that the badminton courts which have been built at the cost of Rs 45 lac, have become unfit courts for playing as it has been damaged in several parts of the courts and ordered an inquiry and errant people will be punished without any hesitation, he added.

Adventurous game in Manipalla: He said that the Manipalla in Manipal will be developed as tourist spot and a reservoir (tank) will be built in 3 acres of land in Manipalla for water sports and adventurous games.

Already a blue print has been prepared for the development of Manipalla.As a part of it, adventurous games will be started. M T Reju, DC said in his speech said that only after taking adequate measures for the safety and security, the games will be started, he clarified.
