Udupi; Sept 11: Addressing the media reporters in the district level Karnataka developmental programmer’s monthly review meeting held on Sept 11, Wednesday at Zilla Panchayat auditorium, Upendra Nayak, president, Zilla Panchayat said in his address that all the SDMC are directly held responsible for the construction works of School’s Akshara Dasoha kitchen from the funds released to SDMCs from Zilla Panchayat and to ensure quality works in cooking rooms.
He further said that in view of constructing better cooking rooms, the fund is being directly released to SDMCs but there are some instances have been observed, wherein works are being carried out through contractors and hence by avoiding these practice, all the cooking rooms related works should be carried out through SDMC only, informed to education department by the president.
He also informed that 3% of the funds released should be kept reserved for the expenses of differently able and handicapped people in various departments, failing to adhere it, the concerned authorities of the department should be held responsible for the lapse and ensure that monthly report should be submitted to concerned department about the handicapped people in different departments and ensure to take precaution that no deserving benefactor’s name is left out in the list, he added.
He said that in order to receive the compensation to areca nut rotten disease affected people, which has already been announced by the government, a joint meeting will be held in this regard and informed to take adequate steps to avail the compensation.
Besides, he also mentioned about the giant trees on the main roads, which obstruct the free flow of traffic and urged the forest department authorities to take suitable measures and ensure smooth traffic flow.
He further said that there is a facility of life insurance coverage of Rupees two lac to all the drivers working in the department, which has been initiated by labor department. Already 6500 drivers in the district have registered their names and advised the drivers of the vehicles should come forward and avail the facilities, he said
While speaking to the media Mamatha Shetty, vice president, Zilla panchayat alleged in her address that some schools in the district in order to get good results in S.S.L.C ask the students who are lagging behind in studies to appear for private examination without their knowledge. In this context, after gathering all the details about the students who are studying in 9th standard in the district and informed to DDPI to conduct survey of the students that whether these students are studying properly in 10th standard or not.
Prabhakar Sharma, MD, Zilla Panchayat while speaking said that in village panchayat benefactors of houses that too SC/ST benefactors are not available, village panchayat should conduct a thorough enquiry, he suggested.
