Mangalore: Custom officials seize 10kgs of Irani saffron from a passenger

Mangalore, September 5: The 10kg weighing saffron of Badiee brand from Iran, which valued at Rs 10lakh, has been seized from a passenger by the customs officers at Mangalore International Airport on Wednesday September 4.

The accused identified as Abdul Shukoor Pallipuzha, a resident of Pallikere, Kasargod district, who has been carrying the Irani saffron by filling in the small boxes, arrived at Mangalore International Airport on September 4 at about 10.30 am by Air India Express flight from Dubai and during the trail the accused has been caught.

The officials have found the 10kgs of saffron inside the clothes and the passenger was arrested and also produced before the’ magistrate. Further investigation is on.

Operations were conducted under the supervision of V Shreenivas Phani, assistant commissioner, C N Rajashekar, Superintendent, Vasudeva Naik D and others.
