Karkala: September 05 : Santhosh Das alias Ghanshyamdas,who was arrested in connection with burglary worth several crore and the prime accused in the Moodbidri Siddantha Darshana Basadi theft case, has been produced before the Karkala court on September 04,Tuesday amidst tight security and has been sent to police custody until September 10.
His interrogation revealed that he was wanted in connection with the burglary from Ganga Jewellery, situated opposite city’s Prathiba Nursing home in Karkala.The police have cross-examined him on the basis of complaint lodged by Subhash Tingale, the owner of the Ganga jewellery shop.
The police first produced him before the court and sought his custody. Sources said that since his involvement is major in theft and burglary cases, CBI probe has been sought from each nook and corner of the city. Sources also said that some of the stolen idols from Moodbidri have been sold in Bankok for Rs 2400 crore.
