Mangalore, Aug 17: In the leadership of cultural committee, the ‘Konkani Language Recognition Day’ was celebrated at Kirem parish on Thursday August 15.
Fr Paul Pinto, parish priest, Our Lady of Remedies Church, Kirem had presided over the function and Joseph Mathias, Merit Freight Systems Company LLC, Dubai was the chief guest.
On the occasion the student of parish, who were excelled in academics, had been honoured by Joseph Mathias and Fr Jerome D’ Souza honoured the students of the parish who had excelled in academics.
The felicitation programme was conducted by Marceline Saldanha, secretary of the parish council.
The fourteen wards of the parish exhibited their talents in various cultural events such as singing songs, performing dances, and displaying theatrical skills with skit and tableaux.
More than a thousand admirers of Konkani participated and enjoyed the ‘Konkani Language Recognition Day’ Programme.
