Self Employment Training Programme at Besant Women’s College

Mangalore, August 16: On the occasion of 67th Independence Day celebration a Self Employment Outreach Programme had been organized by the Outreach Programme Unit of the Besant Women’s College, in association with Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala Rural Development Project (SKDRDP), Mangalore at the College Auditorium.

The training programme was focused at the Anganwady teachers, members of Self help groups and selected parents of Besant College Students.

During the programme the trained students of the college taught the beneficiaries to prepare soap oil, phenyl, organza flowers, tie and dye designs and Candle. About 200 unemployed women participated in the programme.

Mohan Nayak, Correspondent of Besant Women’s College presided over the Programme.

The chief guest SKDRDP director Manorama Bhat said that women must get social as well as financial empowerment. ‘The social empowerment involves education, awareness of her rights, information on health and hygiene where as financial empowerment is enabling her to earn and decide how to spend or save her money’, she said.

‘Self employment makes self dependency and self respect among women. Any skill after acquisition must me practiced and continuously used to get success at work. By acceptance of change coupled with positive mindset women can become accomplished self employed citizens’, she opined.

Raghava M,Project Officer SKDRDP Mangalore, Principal Prof. Pushpalath B.K, Dr. Sulochana Narayan and Prof.Hemalatha were present.
