Bantwal, Aug 5: Demanding the repair of the Kuddupadavu Balashetty Moole road which was constructed under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak, villagers were staged a protest by planting plantains in the middle of the road, on Sunday August 4.
On 2009, a company from Konaje had undertaken the project to repair the 8.74 km road at a cost of Rs 399.55 lakh but within four year road has been ruined and become the reason for the locals’ anger. Though the issue of the road was brought to the notice of many concerned official, no change took place. Hence, people in the vicinity joined hands to protest in a different way by planting the plantains and carrying the auto riksha.
The locals also demanded that the road should be completely tarred and till that bill should not be paid to the contractor. They also threatened to intensify protests if the matter was not resolved.
