“On October 9, 2012, my 17-year-old-daughter was abducted from near the bathing ghat near Dharmasthala. She was raped and killed at an unidentified location and later her body was disposed of on the way to my house. Police is trying to portray Santosh as the accused. However, there are rumours that my daughter was raped and killed by a gang of four,” Chandappa alleged.

He also alleged that the sub inspector of Belthangady police station had taken away an innerwear of the deceased girl from his house. He has said in his report that this was the one that she was wearing on the day of the rape and murder.

He also alleged that a slip containing phone numbers found near the dead body was taken away by the sub inspector. “Youths, who have money power, had raped my daughter. They killed her as she knew them. Police is trying to protect the actual accused. I have submitted the names of three local youths, who are suspected to have committed the crime, to officials of the CID. However, no inquiry has been initiated in this direction,” he stated in the letter addressed to the home minister.

Bangera confirmed that he has received the letter and will hand it over to the home minister soon
