‘Last Date to Enroll for Manipal Arogya Card Scheme is July 31st’

Mangalore July 23:  Manipal Arogya Card has started enrolling members under its scheme for the year 2013 and till date has enrolled 38000 lives in Dakshina Kannada & North Kerala and the Enrollment process will close on 31st July 2013.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. M V Prabhu Dean of KMC Mangalore told that Manipal University instituted the Arogya Card scheme; one of the biggest non-governmental, non-insurance healthcare schemes in India way back in 2001 as part of its social initiative to provide quality healthcare at affordable cost to a large section of the society.  Manipal Arogya Card enables a member to avail large benefits by way of discounts on inpatient and outpatient treatment in various networked hospitals under Manipal Health Enterprises in the Coastal belt.

Medical Superintendent, KMC Hospital, Attavar Dr Madhusudan Upadya said that through paying a small sum as membership fee anybody can obtain membership and he/she will receive his investment back as concessions from just two or three usages of the card. ‘The patient will get free consultation with any specialist doctor at KMC Hospital, Attavar and 50 per cent discount on consultation fee with any specialist/super specialist doctor at KMC Hospital, Ambedkar Circle, any number of times during the year. A 20 per cent discount on Preventive Health Check, Dental Treatment (excluding materials & consumables), diagnostics (CT, MRI, Ultrasound, X-Ray etc) and laboratory investigations give considerable relief to the patient’, he said. He further added that there will also be up to 10 per cent rebate on medicines purchased from hospital pharmacy with prescriptions. A flat 25 per cent concession on the inpatient bill in General Ward (excluding consumables) for any number of times during the year and up to 10 per cent concession on medicines purchased from pharmacy’, he said. Meanwhile he said that apart from KMC Hospital, Mangalore the benefits of Manipal Arogya Card can be availed at other network hospitals namely at Kasturba Hospital, Manipal; Dr.T.M.A.Pai Hospital Udupi & Karkala; and Manipal College of Dental Sciences, Manipal & Mangalore.

Mangalore KMC Hospital Medical Superintendent Dr. Anand Venugopal, stated that Manipal Arogya Card is a unique scheme in which the discounts on treatment can be availed on pre-existing diseases and congenital anomalies as well. ‘There is no age limit to avail of the benefits of the care card priced at just Rs 250 for an individual and Rs 500 for a family card. Family includes the card holder, spouse and any number of children below 21 years. An add-on card is also available for the parents of primary card holders under the family card scheme for Rs 100 per parent and 10 per cent discount on membership fee is offered for renewal of the card.
