Mangalore, July 24 : To inculcate the habit of sampling and to spread the awareness about environment protection among the people, State level one lakh sample planting programme will be organise at city Town hall on August 3, said Deputy Commissioner N Prakash
Addressing the meeting he said that Forest and Ecology Minister B Ramanatha Rai will inaugurate the programme and told the forest department that participation of every department, nongovernmental organisation and public should get confirmed.
Deputy Forest Guard O. Palayya opined that in association with Mangalore City Corporation and different companies nearly 5000 samplings are already planted and it is the duty of forest department to continue the work.
Meanwhile, programme organisers informed the Deputy Commissioner that nearly thousand students will participate and 500 general public as well as forest committee members will be the part of the programme.
NSS officer Vineetha Rai Said that NMPT has already palnted 20,000 samples and thousands of samples had been planted in the University by the NSS unit. MRPL, MCF, SEZ, NSS and NCC staffs will participate in the programme, she said.
