Pre-University College’s state level sports meet inaugurated in the city.

Manglauru, December 4: Under the sports quota, the government will appoint 130 athletes in the Forest Department. Among them, appointment of 77 members has been done already and procedure to appoint others is going on, said the Minister for Forests B Ramanath Rai.

He was addressing the gathered after inaugurating the three day long Pre-University College’s state level sports meet organized by the Dakshina Kananda Buntara Yane Nadavara Matru Sangha with the association of Pre-University education department at the Mangala Stadium here.

He said, sports is helpful to maintain good health, develops social bonding and bond between the youths and various countries.

Sports Minister Abhaychandra Jain said, Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts have given best athletes to the country. To give best athletes to the nation, the physical directors have to evince more interest, he said.

MLA JR Lobo presided over the program.

On the dais, ZP President Asha Thimmappa Gowda, MCC member Ashok Kumar DK, sub-director of Pre-University education department K R Thimmaiah, Ramakrishna Pre-University College principal Dr Kishorkumar Rai Sheni, Director of Physical Education Rajkishor Bhandary, and college convener Krishnaprasad Rai were present.

Buntara Yane Nadavara Matru Sangha president K Ajithkumar Rai Malady welcomed.

Minister K Abhaychandra Jain, ZP president Asha Thimmappa Gowda, MCC member Ashok Kumar DK received the guard of honour. Later the spots flag was hoisted.

In the sports march as many as 2,100 members from 26 districts had participated. In this three-day- long event, about 2,500 athletes from 31 districts will participate.
