Usha was married and mother of two children. She had left her husband. Vishwanath was employed in a cashew nut factory near Belve and was also involved in building construction work. Both had an illicit relationship from eight years, it is said. Vishwanath had plenty of land in Gommola and began to construct a new house there. Meanwhile, he began to ask Usha to return his money as he was facing some problems and had also asked her to come for his house construction works, it is said. But it is said, Usha was forcing him to help her to construct a house and also to give money. On November 23rd, she told some reasons at home and packed a night wear in her bag. Then she left with Vishwanath with a plan to get a sketch of her dream house, post which she was murdered, it is learnt.
Karunakar Shetty was an old rival to Vishwanath and also his neighbour staying in the same village. Vishwanath had promised Karunakar Shetty that he would introduce Usha to him also.
On November 23rd, Vishwanath picked Usha on a bike from near her house to his under construction new house in Gommola saying that he would make a sketch for her new house. He introduced Usha to Karunakar Shetty who went to the Seeta river some time later.
Meanwhile, a big fight took place between Vishwanath and Usha and while Usha tried to run away from the spot, Karuankar Shetty held her tight. She was murdered by dropping a huge boulder on her face. Later the two discarded the body amidst the bushes near the banks of the Seetha river.
After committing the murder, Vishwanath plans to escape with the jewellery that Usha was wearing. Later he comes to know that most of them were artificial jewellery.
