Four arrested for ganja trafficking; autorickshaw, ganja worth Rs 6,000 seized.

Bantwal, November 25: Police on Monday evening intercepted an autorickshaw in which ganja was being transported to Thokkotu, arrested four persons and seized the autorickshaw.

The arrested are identified as Abdul Samad(22), resident near Ullal Darga, Abdul Safwan(19), resident of Dharmanagar,  Mohammed Sadik (47), resident of Subhash Nagar in Ullal, and Mohammed Siraj (34), resident of Manjanady.

Based on reliable information that ganja was being transported from Beltangady, the Poonjalakatte SHO Latesh Kumar and police personnel’s, in an operation arrested the accused in Poonjalakatte.

During the inspection, the accused who were transporting ganja noticed the police and tried to escape without stopping their autorickshaw. Meanwhile, the police followed the autorickshaw and caught the accused. 300 grams of ganja whose estimated value is Rs 6,000 were found under the back seat of autorickshaw.

The accused during police investigations revealed that they had taken ganja from Farook, resident of Gerukatte. Based on this information, the police have continued their investigations. The accused were produced in Bantwal court.
