Udupi, November 21: Malati B Shetty (65) who went missing five months ago under mysterious circumstances after leaving the compound of her house situated in Korgi village, Kundapur taluk has remained untraced yet. Her son who works in America, immediately returned to his native and has put all efforts to trace his mother, but in vain.

Although the police took up the investigations from various angles, Malati B Shetty has not been traced yet.  Now her son has filed Habeas corpus at the High Court urging to trace his mother.

Son of Malati B Shetty, Mr Sathish Shetty has filed Habeas-corpus at the State High Court through his brother-in-law Ramamanohar Shetty. At present Mr Sathish Shetty is working as a CEO at a company in America. He has struggled a lot to trace his mother.

After hearing the petition, the bench of justice comprising H Billappa and KN Phanindra directed the State Home Ministry, Kundapur Police station and also the Western Range IGP Amrit Paul to submit progress reports related to tracing of Malati Shetty.

Malati B Shetty (65), resident of Korgi village in Kundapur taluk, Udupi district went absconding under mysterious circumstances on June 24th-2015 after having her lunch in the afternoon. Her family searched for her and later filed a case in Kundapur police station. Her son had returned to America just two days before his mother went absconding. He immediately returned to his native, met Udupi SP K Annamalai and urged to trace his mother at the earliest.

But all the efforts to trace Malati Shetty went in vain. Later her son Sathish Shetty launched a website WWW.MOMMISSING.ORG and uploaded all the related details along with the photos of his mom. He also distributed pamphlets in relation to this missing case and made the people of the state to know about it. In addition, Sathish Shetty announced a prize of Rs one lakh for the person who traces his mother. Even then, no clues were available about Malati Shetty.

Now, Mr Sathish Shetty has field Habeas-corpus at the state High court and appealed the court to direct the police department to produce his mom in the court.
