Mangaluru, November 14: Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner A B Ibrahim informed that the no unpleasant have been reported across the district over the past few hours in the day and law and order is under control in the district. The chief secretary of the state government has sought a report on the law and order situation in the district, he informed.
The DC addressed a press meet at his office here on Saturday November 14th, in the wake of prohibitory orders with section 144 imposed in the city till November 15th night in the wake of murder Harish at BC Road and other unpleasant incidents having been reported from various places across the district.
DC said, on the night of November 13th, incidents of violence were reported from Karaya in Beltangady and Ullal. Also, four persons were arrested in connection to the stone-pelting on a mosque at Bunder.
All functions have been denied permission until further orders except for the inauguration of renovated Town Hall in Mangaluru on Saturday and also Yakshotsava Silveer Jubilee celebrations in Sampaje, he said.
DC has appealed to the publics not to pay heed to rumours particularly on social networking sites. He said, the media should also help in maintaining peace by being careful while reporting.
