Mangaluru, November 14: Although I was not involved in any organization, group of eight persons which arrived in a Car attacked with sharp weapons, alleged critically injured Sameulla, son of Yusuf, resident of Badagundi coming under Moodu Nadugodu gram panchayat; who is admitted in a private hospital in the city.
“On Thursday, I played Woolley ball with my friends inside Halegate church premises. While returning, Harish was standing near a shop in Halegate after playing Cricket. With Harish seated behind me on my vehicle, I moved a little ahead when a team of eight members in a Car arrived in a Omni vehicle and attacked using deadly weapons”, alleged Samiulla.
“I had observed the Omni car that was parked by the roadside at about ten feet away from the shop in Haleangady before moving in bike from there. But I was not aware that they had plotted to attack me. As the bike moved, the car suddenly came across the bike and around five to six persons got out from the car and attacked using deadly weapons. At this moment, the bike that I was riding fell down and Harish who was sitting behind me also fell down. Harish ran from the spot. But the accused attacked me and injured on my stomach and back portions. But I pushed them and ran away from the spot and hid myself in a dark place. At this moment, the accused chased Harish and hacked him to death, alleged Samiulla.
“For two and a half years, I worked in Gulf and had returned to native only six months ago. Four months ago, I had joined as a driver in Vijayalaxmi silk house, a local company. Among the 35 houses in Badagundi limits, ours is the only Muslim house and we all live in harmony. Although communal riots have taken place at various places in the district, till now no untoward incident has taken place in Badagundi, said Samiulla.
“Harish and I studied in same school. So we were friends since long. I am very much hurted after hearing that Harish Poojary has been murdered”, said Samiulla.
