Mangaluru, November 10: Massive protest was staged by the Vishwa Hindu Parishad(VHP) and Bajrang Dal against the celebration of Tipu Jayanti, at the Zilla Panchayat office here on Tuesday morning, November 10th.
The protest was staged outside the ZP office while the district administration observed Tipu Jayanti in the Netravati hall of the ZP office. The protesters waved black flags, and shouted slogans against the government and the district administration.
The police who sensed the trouble had already deployed tight security at the premises; closed the gates and erected barricades to prevent protesters from interrupting the celebration.
The police arrested over a 100 protesters and took them away and released them later.
The protest was led by VHP leader Jagadish Shenava, Bajrang Dal convener Sharan Pumpwell and Franklin Monteiro of BJP Minority Morcha.
