Kundapur, November 9: A mini lorry that was transporting hay suddenly caught fire at Thekkate on the night of Sunday November 8th and the timely actions of public averted a major tragedy.
It is gathered that a mini lorry that was transporting dry grass from Kundapur towards Bramhavar. When the lorry reached Thekkatte, pedestrians noticed fire on the rear end of the lorry. They then stopped the lorry and brought the matter to the notice of the driver.
The lorry driver, tried to lift the trailer to drop down the dry grass that caught fire. But the dry grass had stuck to the trailer. Publics, managed to open the trailer gate. But by then the hay had completely burnt.
Traffic on the road was affected for about half an hour.
