MANGALORE: A holiday turned tragic for a 12-year-old boy who drowned in a well in Kannagudde on Friday. The deceased has been identified as Ankith, son of late ShivaramaPoojary and a resident of Kannagudde.

Ankith along with his elder brother Manish and five others had gone to swim in the well around 8.30am. He drowned around 12 noon, police said.

Manish alerted the family of the incident. Police have fished out his body.

The deceased was an eighth standard student of Sacred Heart School in Kulashekar. His is survived by his mother Nandini, an employee at a kitchenware shop and brother. Ankith’s uncle Prashanth has registered a complaint at Mangalore rural police station.

MANGALORE: In view of heavy rainfall, Dakshina Kannada district administration has declared holiday for all colleges and schools in the district on Friday, but the holiday turned tragic for 12-year-old Ankith, who was drowned to death at a well in Kannagudde.

According to the police, Ankith along with his elder brother – Manish and with five friends went to swim in the well around 8.30am and he was drowned to death around 12 noon. Soon after the incident Manish rushed to his house and alerted his family members, said Police.

Police have fished out the body from the well. The deceased was an eighth standard student in Sacred Heart School in Kulashekara. Ankith son of late Shivarama Poojary is a resident of Kannagudde and his mother Nandini is an employee at a kitchenware shop.
