Mangaluru, October 12: President of Netravati Nadhi Samrakshana Okkuta Dr Niranjan Rai, has requested the people of Mangaluru to support the ‘rasta roko’ and ‘jail bharo’ protest against the Yettinahole project scheduled to be held at 10.30 am on October 15th at Mahaveer circle here.
Dr Niranjan Rai addressed a press meet at Arya Samaj Bhavan here on Monday October 12th, and said, many leaders such as MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, MLA Vasanth Bangera, Former Union Minister Janardhana Poojary and various organizations have joined also supported the cause.
Dr Niranjan Rai said, we are not against providing water to Kolar but against the unscientific way of lifting the water from Yettinahole which is a threat to the Western Ghats.
Activist Dinesh Holla said, we have approached all activists in all the taluks across the district. He expressed confidence that publics as well as various organizations will take part in the protest.
Activist M G Hegde said, various organizations and communities have supported this cause. The struggle will continue untill the government stops the project. He also added that protesters will block the highway for two hours.
All College Students Association leader Dinakar Shetty, activist Shashidar Shetty, Rahim Uchil, Kateel Dinesh Pai, Anand Adyar, were present among others.
