Speaking in support of this, entrepreneur George Pais said, if the law and order system is not improved, the entrepreneurs think twice before they invest here and also suggested that the city limits must be extended till Ganjimutt.

At present, public opinion must be collected about the problems facing the city. It must be addressed before thinking of smart city. In the similar manner, it is better to pay attention to the villages of the city that comes under Smart City, opined Rajaram Shetty, an employee of a private firm.

The future population of the city must be kept in mind over the aspects of developmental works on water, drainage and power generation system, suggested banker Vishwanath Kotekar.

MLA J R Lobo presided over the program and said, if Mangalore City Corporation gets selected as smart city, over a span of five years Rs 500 crores grant will be given from the state and centre each of a total of Rs 1,000 crores. It is necessary that Mangaluru must get selected as smart city among the list of first 20 cities. The public opinion will be collected for preparing the ‘Concept Report’. This is not a project report, he informed.
