Mangaluru, September 18: In a collision between bus and bike, the bike rider expired on spot following which the bus it suddenly caught fire and burnt completely near Budoli Bollukallu at Mani near Uppinangady on the Mangaluru-Bengaluru National Highway on Thursday, September 17th.
The deceased bike rider is identified as Chetan from Haleneranky village in Uppinangady.
This head on collision occurred when the private bus was moving from Uppinangady to Mangaluru while the bike arrived from opposite side. As an impact of the accident, fire erupted in the diesel tank of the bus following which the bus was completely engulfed by flames. Immediately, the bus passengers were alighted. As the passengers were watching the bus, it completely engulfed in flames and was completely burnt.
The passengers had a lucky escape. The bus driver sustained minor injuries and has been admitted to private hospital in Mangaluru.
The fire extinguishers arrived at the spot and prevented the fire engulfing the surrounding areas.
Vittal police have registered a case.
After the accident, traffic was affected on the Mangaluru-Bengaluru highway for over two hours.
