Bantwal, August 31: A man was brutally murdered on spot and another was critically injured after a group assaulted on the duo while they were travelling on a bike near Kanyana in the taluk on Sunday, August 30th.
It is gathered that, Asif and Riyaz had arrived on a bike to a wedding in a house at Kanyana. While they were returning, five members who arrived in an Alto car which arrived from Muguli attempted to stop the bike and dashed to the bike in front of the government first grade college, it is learnt.
As a result, the duos on the bike were thrown on to the drainage adjacent to the road. Meanwhile, the people who were in the car attacked the duos using road and machetes. Murder attempt took place on Riyaz who attempted to escape from the attack. Asif was brutally murdered on the spot, said the sources.
A case has been registered at Vittal police station. Preliminary police investigations revealed pre-existing rivalry was the reason behind this murder.
