Karkala, August 4: A youth working in a garage went to a studio in the pretext of customer and allegedly attempted to molest and murder a woman employed there. The incident took place in Hosmar of Eedu village in the taluk on Monday August 3rd. The locals caught hold of the youth and handed him over to the police.
The accused is Sathish Mera (19), a resident near Hosmar Mangala farm.
Sheetal Jain owns a studio housed in the Nagaprasad building situated in Hosmaru town. The incident occurred when the studio owner had been away during lunch hour in the afternoon. The accused went to the studio, and asked the woman there to click his photo and that he wanted ‘one-minute-photo’. The woman after clicking his photo was cleaning it. Meanwhile, the youth approached her from behind and suddenly wound a wire he had with him around her neck and attempted to murder her, it is alleged. When she cried for help, the people operating the neighbouring shops rushed inside the studio.
The youth tried to escape, but the locals caught hold of him, stripped him, and then tied him to a pole and informed the matter to the police.
Karkala rural police rushed to the spot and took the accused into custody.
A case stands registered in Karkala police station and investigations are going on.
