Mangaluru, July 20: A felicitation programme was organized for the members from the community who were newly elected in the recently held Gram Panchayat elections by the “Buntara Yaane Nadavara Matrusangha” at A B Shetty hall near Bunts hostel on Sunday, July 19th in the city.
Former Karnataka Minister and Former MP Jayaprakash Hegde formally inaugurated the event by lighting the lamp.
Speaking on the occasion Jayaprakash Hegde said, you have won the votes from all the citizens. Hence one must work with an intension of overall development of the entire village by winning the confidence of all. If the works are sincerely discharged, then their name will remain permanently, he said.
It is the right of the citizens to pressurize their elected representatives to work for their respective villages as the people have relied on them and elected them in the Gram Panchayat elections. It is your prime duty to respond to their demands. Getting elected in the Gram Panchayat elections is difficult than the elections of MP and MLA’s. If the MLA’s and MP’s get less votes in one place, it can be balanced in the other. But here that situation is not there. Those who got this chance have to work hopefully towards better chances, he said.
The event was presided over by Maladi Ajit kumar Rai, president of Buntara Yane Nadavara Matrusangha.
Since ages, the Bunts community is ahead in spiritual, political and social sectors, and also helps people of all communities and lives in harmony in the society and has gained reputation and affection of the citizens for its paradigm. In this view, a felicitation programme has been organized today on behalf of the Matrusangha to honour the people of this community who have been newly elected in the recently held gram panchayat elections across Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts, said Ajith Kumar Rai.
In the modern situation, in our community, love, trust, and helping nature are fading. The work of uniting the community people from rural areas with the Mathrusangha is achieved by felicitating the newly elected Gram Panchayat members of the community. In future, there are plans to hold meeting with five to ten Gram Panchayats in each taluk in order to further strengthen our community. This needs the support of all. International Bunts conference will take place in the month of December. In Bunts hostel, a new hall will be constructed at a cost of about Rs 180-200 crores said Ajitkumar Rai.
On this occasion cultural events were presented by the children of Bunts community in the beginning of the felicitation programme. Later about 660 members of the community who were newly elected in the Gram Panchayat elections held recently across DK and Udupi districts were draped with shawl and honoured by the guests.
