Trio including inter-state thief arrested by CCB police

Mangaluru, July 15: In a special operation, the CCB police have arrested a prime accused involved in inter-state thefts.

The arrested is identified as Mohammed Rafeek alias Rickshaw Rafeek, resident of Kallata in Manjanady, Mangaluru Taluk.

Accused Rafeek faces various cases of dacoity in Kerala, Temple theft at Konaje- Motungoli and Kumbalapadavu, Idol theft at Kundapur temple, thefts at Manjeshwara and Kumble, cases of illegal activities in Mangaluru, house theft in Kannur and kidnap of a Bangaluru based entrepreneur, all of these are registered in various police stations.

The accused Rafeek after being granted the bail from the court, escaped without attending the court although the warrant was issued from various police stations. The police who received information about the presence of the accused near Mulki, arrested him from there, informed Deputy Commissioner of Police Shantharaju in a press conference.

Wanted in various cases arrested:

The police have arrested prime accused namely Althaf, of Someshwar K C Road and Rajesh of Thannirubhavi here who were involved in five theft which took place across Mangaluru jurisdiction.

The accused were charged for stabbing lonely youths and robbing them of their valuables which were reported in the areas of Central market and service bus terminus in the city. The duos – Althaf faces cases in Mangaluru south police station and Rajesh in Mangaluru south police station are the prime accused in two cases, informed the Deputy Commissioner of police.

Led by Mangaluru City Police Commissioner S Murugan, guided by ACP Kalyan Shetty, SI Dinakara Shetty, PSI Mohammed Sharif and other police personnel’s participated in the operation, the officer informed.
