Mangaluru, July 10: The hi-tech Rotablator was inaugurated at KMC hospital, Ambedkar circle Mangaluru; which is part of Manipal health enterprises, on Friday July 10th.
Dr Annapoorna Kini, director cath lab and interventional cardiology, professor of cardiology, Mount Sinai school of medicine, New York, inaugurated the Rotablator.
Dr Annapoorna Kini spoke after the inauguration and said, the Rotablator is used to clear off the hard, calcified lesions which the standard angioplasty balloons have failed to treat effectively. The diamond tipped burr clears off the calcium deposit and the Stent can be placed easily once the deposition is cleared off. This method also reduces from going for surgeries.
Dean Dr M V Prabhu, Dr R L Kamath- HOD, department of cardiology, Dr Anand Venugopal, medical superintendent of KMC Hospitals Mangaluru and Saghir Siddiqui- unit head, were present among others on this occasion.
