Husband, paramour arrested for torturing woman.

Mangaluru, June 26: Kavoor police on Thursday June 25th have arrested a man and his alleged paramour on the charges of confining wife of the said man in a room of a rented house, and torturing her physically and mentally.

The arrested accused are as Ganapat (32), from Rajasthan, and his friend, Sumitra.

It is learnt, nine years ago, Ganapat had married a woman named Swapna while he was living in Rajasthan. Later, he left her at his native place, and arrived to the city. He began to operate a shop dealing in stationery items, mobile phone spare parts etc at Kuntikan Junction here. Thereafter, he began to live with a woman named Sumitra in a rented house at Derebail Lohit Nagar in the city.

Swapna arrived to the city about three months ago.

It is alleged that both Ganapat and Sumitra quarrelled with her, and kept her isolated in a dark room inside the rented house for the last three months. She was even deprived of provided with adequate food, and was subjected to physical and mental torture, it is said.

Led by Kavoor police sub-inspector, Umesh Kumar, the police team raided the house and arrested the accused.
