Mangaluru, June 23: As per a survey done by a Kannada daily, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel was termed as the number one MP in the state and was recently felicitated by the BJP for this feat. The district in-charge minister Ramanath Rai has raised opposition against it and has questioned the achievements of MP Nalin Kumar Kateel.
Addressing a press meet at the district Congress office here on Tuesday June 23rd, Rai said, the cut-outs of Nalin Kumar Kateel are seen across the district terming him as the No-1 MP in terms of fund utilization. I am unable to understand this factor. Nalin Kumar may be called No-1 among BJP MPs, but not in general.
When Oscar Fernandes was the minister of road transport and highways, the Shiradi Ghat road project was sanctioned by the UPA government. But Nalin Kumar Kateel visited Shiradi Ghat and tried to show it as a BJP project. Even the upgrading of Mangaluru junction railway station to international standards was the project of UPA. If he is No-1 MP, then we need international railway station, smart city, a full-fledged passport office and IIT in Mangaluru. Let him get these done, he said.
Rai said, BJP is a party which is limited only to publicity. Publics need to understand that BJP is cheating them.
When queried about the pending Town Hall renovation work, he said, in a review meeting held in January, a higher officer had promised to finish the work in three months, but the work is not yet completed. A special meeting was called on Monday, June 22nd and the work will be completed by August. It is not only the mayor’s responsibility, but even the co-operation of the officials is also needed, he said.
