Dalit Samithi demands high level probe into Bajpe wall compound collapse tragedy

Mangalore, June 21: Addressing the media reporters in the press meet held on June 20, Ashok Konchady, District convener of Dalita Abhivridhi Vedike urged the government to increase the compensation to next of kin of the deceased in Bajpe wall compound collapse tragedy to Rs 5 lakh from Rs 1.5 lakh, which has already provided, apart from providing government jobs to the members of the affected families.

Besides various Dalit organizations have urged for high level investigation into the Bajpe wall collapse tragedy at Thottilaguri, wherein four persons died and seven injured.

Ashok warned further that the Dalit organizations would unitedly launch protest, if the demands of the Samithi are not fulfilled.

While welcoming the administration’s decision to construct houses to the affected families’ at Porkody,he alleged that illegal commercial complexes have come up in the colony by encroaching the lands of Dalit and urged for stern action against the encroachers.
