Special task force will be formed to tackle increasing number of crimes: assures SP Abhishek Goyal

Mangalore, June 21: While speaking to the media reporters in the meeting convened at the Sannidhi Hall at Dharmasthala on June 20, Thursday SP Abhishek Goyal assured the setting up special task force to check the menace of frequent crimes.

The meeting was organized in the wake of series of thefts, robberies reported in temples and Basadis in the taluk in the recent pasts.

Admitting the fact that police department is facing acute shortage of staff, SP Goyal urged the heads of the temples and Basadis to appoint watchmen and also to install CCTV cameras as it will help in a greater way in monitoring the crime.

Citing an example of Belthangadi police station, where they are indeed facing shortage of staff and managing only with 40 staff, SP said a request has been made to the Home minister to recruit more staff to the station.

Further while urging the temple management to be on their heel, SP also assured that police department leave stone unturned on the part of checking thefts and nabbing the burglars.

Nemiraj Airgas, State convener of Karnataka Jain Swayam Seva Sangha,Shashikiran Jain, lawyer, Jayakeerthi Jain, Taluk President of Karnataka State Government Employees Association,  Sadananda Varnekar, DySP,  Sudhakar Naik, circle inspector, Yogeesh Kumar, SI, Rajashekhar Ajri, President of Bangadi Basadi, Ratnavarma Jain and others were present at the meeting..

Earlier, the SP along with other police officials visited the Bangadi Basadi which was recently burgled. Several idols were stolen from the Basadi by the thieves who broke open the main doors to entire the shrine.
