Doha bound passenger arrested at MIA –  4.110 kgs drugs seized.

Mangaluru, June 19: Customs officers at the Mangalore International Airport have seized 4.110kgs drugs from a passenger on Thursday, June 18th.

The passenger Muhammed Ershad Chemberika Mohamood (31) , a resident of Kasaragod, Kerala.

Muhammed Ershad was bound to Doha by Air India Express flight No.IX821 scheduled for departure in the evening of June 18th.

Based on a tip off given by Air India Security, the Customs officers of the Mangalore International Airport intercepted a passenger by identified as Muhammed Ershad Chemberika Mohamood and seized about 4.110 kilograms (including moisture content) of dark green dry leaves believed to be ‘CANNABIS’, a narcotic drug commonly known as Marijuana or Ganja, valued at about Rs.5,00,000 in the international market. The leaves were found in the baggage of the passenger.

The passenger has been arrested and is being produced before the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Mangalore, for remand. Further investigation is under progress.
