Two children expire due to fever, dengue suspected

Beltangady, June 18: Mysterious fever has claimed the life of two children, identified as Nauseena (9) from Malady and Dheeraj (30 months) from Kanyadi in Dharmasthala village in the taluk on Wednesday June 17th.

Nauseena was a 4th standard student of Malady government higher primary school. She was the daughter of Ibrahim, a resident of Maladipalke. She expired at a private hospital in Mangaluru, after suffering from fever for a week. She was treated initially in a local hospital and was later shifted to Mangaluru. Her death is suspected to have been caused by dengue.

In another case, Dheeraj, 30-month-old son of Chennappa Gowda from Kanyadi Posoklu in Dharmasthala expired at the government Wenlock Hospital in Mangaluru. Since June 15th, child Dheeraj was suffering from fever and dysentery. He was treated in local hospital and was later admitted at Mangaluru.

With this, fever has claimed three lives from the taluk. Although the fever is suspected to be dengue, but the exact causes of death in all these cases are yet to be confirmed.
