Mangaluru, June 9: Burglars have fled with jewellery worth Rs 11 lakhs after breaking the rear window glass of the Innova car parked at Panambur beach on Sunday, June 7th.

Tourists from Bengaluru who were travelling by their Innova car, had visited the Panambur beach which was crowded with visitors on Sunday.

After parking the car at the beach, they ventured into sea for amusement. When they returned to the car, they were shocked to find that the bag containing jewellery which was placed in the car was missing. Later they noticed that the rear window glass of the car was broken.

A police complaint was lodged immediately at Panambur police station.

The stolen valuables included bangles, chains, necklace, and other gold items weighing around 520 grams.

When the police inspected the spot, no clues or any suspicious persons could be found. It is suspected that the thieves might have noticed the women removing their jewellery and placing them in the bag before going to the beach, as no other car was burgled among the hundreds of parked vehicles. The CCTV installed in the beach has not recorded the robbery as a hoarding which was placed near the parking zone came in between the car and the camera.
