Mangaluru, June 3: Ullal municipality officials, who learnt that effluents were being released on the road near Thokkottu Kapikad, raided the spot.
The officials raided Maruti Suzuki showroom located near Thokkottu Kapikad, and ‘Wine and Dine’ bar there. Notices were served to a car show room and also owner of a bar there for continuing with this practice.
The waste water from the bar is being let off directly near the road, as a result of which the area always stinks. A temple and about a hundred houses are situated in this area.
The locals said, even though repeated requests were made to the owner of the bar and manager of the show room to initiate measures to stop this stink, they failed to do so.
Chief officer of the municipality, Roopa T Shetty, president, Girija Bai, and health officer of the municipality visited the spot after receiving complaint and issued warning notice to the concerned. If they fail to build alternative pits to collect the stinking discharge within a week, the licence issued to the concerns would be cancelled warned Roopa.
