Puttur, May 19: The fight between two drunken brothers ended with the murder of the elder one at Karmala, Bannur in Puttur on Monday, May 18th.
Ranganath of Chitradurga district is the deceased.
As usual, Ramanath (36) and his younger brother Somanath (33) quarreled after being drunk.
It is learnt that while they were quarreling on that fateful day, Somanath in a fit of rage, repeatedly pierced a screw driver into Ramanath’s head. Later Ramanath succumbed to his injuries.
Since a long time, both the brothers were living together in Puttur.
Dakshina Kannada Superintendent of police, Dr S D Sharanappa and Deputy Superintendent of Police, N G Bhaskar Rai visited the spot.
Puttur town police inspector Mahesh Prasad has undertaken the investigations. Accused Somanath has been taken into custody.
During questioning Somanath has confessed to the crime stating that he had pierced a screw driver into the head of Ramanath.
Police suspect that the murder was committed by hitting with a hammer to the head of Ramanath. Cops are further investigating the case.
