Three visitors saved by lifeguards at Ullal beach

Mangaluru, May 18: The Lifeguards at Mogaveerapatna beach in Ullal have saved the lives of three people who were found to be drowning in the sea on Sunday, May 17th.

Three members, Sayed Aslam (8) his Father Sayed Ibrahim and uncle Fhiroze from Nandini layout in Bengaluru were saved by the life guards.

The family of Sayyed Ibrahim had arrived from Bengaluru to visit historical Dargah in Ullal. Later, they visited the Mogaveerapatna beach on Sunday morning. Meanwhile, Sayed Aslam was trapped by tides in the sea while taking bath. His father and uncle went to save him. But all three were found to be in danger of losing lives. Immediately, the lifeguards who were fishing in the sea nearby plunged into the sea and saved the lives of three persons.

Group of lifeguards included Deexith Karkera, Sampath Amin, Kunal Amin, Niranjan Puthran, Nithin Puthran and Mohan Kotian.

The crew of lifeguards were happy about their achievement of saving lives; but they were also hurt by the recent incident which took place on May 10th at the beach. On that day, a team of lifeguards had warned a group of people not to venture into sea. But the members of lifeguards were charged with threatening them.

Speaking to the media, Sampath Amin, president of the association said, we decided to save the lives on humanitarian grounds. Warning the visitors unfortunately takes us police station as none wants to listen to us. It is sad that our members are in jail.

Another member Guruprasad said, today we did it to save a life of a boy. Unless our members are released, we will not do it again. We will not cooperate even with police and district administration.
