Puttur, May 16: An ill-fated tragedy claimed the life of a drunken man after he was hit with a plank by his son.
The deceased is identified as Poovappa Gowda (52) from Kadikanda near Nelyadi.
It is gathered that, Poovappa Gowda was a habitual drinker. On May 12th, while he was drunk, some arguments took place between him and duos of his son and son- in- law. Arguments turned to a quarrel. Drunken Poovappa went out of control at some point. The duo wanted him to calm down and come back to senses. They did not find any solution other than hitting him with a plank in a fit of rage.
Poovappa who was hit with the plank fell unconscious. Immediately he was rushed to Wenlock hospital in Mangaluru city. He succumbed to injury after two days.
A case has been registered by Uppinangady police who has done the preliminary investigations. Now the case is transferred to Puttur rural police station.
Police have taken the duo suspects into custody.
