Mangaluru, May 12: The Karnataka state Common Entrance Test (CET) for professional courses began across various centers in the state on Tuesday May 12th.
Students were busy in their last minute preparations outside the respective exam centers.
Biology and mathematics exams are being held today, while physics and chemistry will be held on Wednesday May 13th, said Sr M Shamita, principal of St Agnes PU College.
Similar to last year, many students are absent for the biology exam. Exam hall looked empty, but in the afternoon the exam halls will be full as mathematics has become their main choice. Being absent for one or two CET exams has become common. Those who want to pursue medicine appear for biology, physics and chemistry. Students who want to enter into the engineering stream appear for mathematics, chemistry and physics, she added.
Dakshina Kannada district 11,696 candidates have registered for the CET conducted by Karnataka Examinations Authority. The entrance exam is being held in 22 centers, out of which 11 are in the city, three at Puttur, 6 in Moodbidri and 2 in Ujire. As many as 4,080 candidates have registered for the exam in Udupi.
