Mangaluru, May 11: In the recent stabbing case which took place recently in a wedding hall in Shirva, Udupi, the victim has expired on Sunday night, May 10th.

Naveed Khan who had been to attend a function was stabbed with a knife allegedly by Antony John D’Souza (A J D’Souza) from Pilar on May 5th. Victim was admitted to a hospital in Manipal and later shifted to a private hospital in Mangaluru. On the night of May 10th, he breathed his last.

It is learnt that Naveed had been to attend a function scheduled at wedding hall in Shirva. At around 3 pm, a tempo belonging to some decorations firm was about to enter the main gate, while A J D’Souza was exiting through the same gate on his scooter. As there was lack of space for both to pass simultaneously, Antony asked the tempo driver to move back, and the latter in turn told D’Souza to move back. An argument arose, between them with neither of them budging.

As crowd began to gather and a traffic jam ensued, Naveed tried to intervene but in a fit of rage, Antony removed a knife from his scooter and allegedly stabbed Naveed.

The accused was arrested later.

Speaking to the media at Wenlock hospital where body of Naveed was brought on May 11th, Naveed’s brother Wahid demanded justice urged for strict action against the culprit.

Wahid said, this is an unnatural death. Person who went to help has been murdered, it is unacceptable. We want justice, he said.

The accused Antony John D’Souza has been booked under Sections 302, 307 and 506 of the IPC.
