Tractor-compressor falls into gorge, three expired.

Sullia, May 8: Three men expired on spot, and another was injured after the tractor-compressor by which there were travelling fell into 20 feet gorge. The incident took place at Sheni in Chokkady in the taluk on Thursday May 7th.

Driver of the tractor-compressor, Madhava Gowda (35) and Narayana Naik (35), both from Sheni, expired on the spot. Subramanya Rajendra (42), another labourer from Tamil Nadu, expired while being shifted to a hospital.  Another occupant of the tractor, Devappa Sheni, a labourer, escaped with minor injuries.

On Thursday morning, the compressor tractor with four men including the driver was moving to a quarry located at Pajapalla from Sheni in Chokkady village. The driver suddenly lost control over the vehicle, after which the vehicle fell into the roadside gorge. All the four occupants were stuck under the tractor-compressor.

With the assistance of policemen from Bellare outpost, locals and vehicle drivers, struggled for about two hours to remove the four men.

By then, both Madhava Gowda and Narayana Naik had expired. Subramanya Rajendra, who was in critical state, he lost his life on the way while he was being taken to a hospital in Mangaluru. Devappa Sheni luckily survived with minor injuries.

Madhava Gowda is survived by wife.

Narayana Naik is survived by wife and a very young son.

Subramanya Rajendra from Tamil Nadu was living alone at Chokkady.

The autopsy was conducted at the government hospital here and later the bodies were handed over to their belongings.

Pertaining to the incident, a case is filed in the local police station.
